We learn how to do things so that we may not repeat the mistakes when we make some mistakes. When you make mistakes, you also learn valuable knowledge like learning to do things the right way. You should remember the experiences instead or dwelling on mistakes. When you do that, you will avoid repeating the same mistake next time. You should not compare yourself with other people because you do not know what they go through or the mistakes they have done in the past for them to be where they are today. For other people to be successful, they might have invested for a long time which is why you should not compare yourself with them also.

Instead of comparing the goals of other people, you can also achieve your goals if only will set your own targets. Everybody change and because of that, your past should not be your identity. You are not the same person you were last month if you are learning and growing. Because of that reason, you should not base your identity on someone you used to be. You are not defined by the mistakes you made in the past. Ways on correcting mistakes you have made will always be found also if some of them were repeated.

The other thing you should do to stop being hard on yourself is being objective about your thoughts and emotions. Looking at your thoughts and emotions objectively is not an easy thing. When you are hard on yourself, you should ask yourself if you would say those things to another person. If those things cannot be said to them, that’s a good sign of not being hard on yourself.
